The Blessings of Summer Quilt is Finished!

I am so excited that our Blessings of Summer Quilt is finished!  We've spent more hours on this quilt - designing, contemplating, redesigning, appliqueing, piecing, quilting, embellishing - than almost every other quilt designed by Shabby Fabrics.  What does that mean for you?  Why it is nearly perfect!  Just see for yourself.....

You may remember Pearl the Dove from our Blessings of Spring quilt.  Here she is again complete with her beautiful trademark necklace!

Ice cream and strawberries?  Yes please!  The strawberry tops are made of wool felt for added texture.

This darling little cottage block features a white picket fence, gingerbread trim, a kite in the sky, and two miniature quilts hanging on the line!

A close-up of the miniature quilts - these are actually pieced!

These pinwheels are 3-dimensional - and don't miss that ladybug!

 Ahhhh, sunflowers!

You have to smile at this little red wagon filled with daisies!

A little sailboat enjoys a sunny day on the water.

This block may be the simplest, but it is far from being the least important!

Have we piqued your interest enough yet?  Full patterns and embellishing kits will be available within the next couple of weeks.  We still have spots available in our Blesssings of Summer Block of the Month program which begins in August.  Use Coupon Code SHABBYSUMMER5 for $5 off your sign up fee!  Coupon code only valid for the Blessings of Summer Sign Up Fee and expires August 15th.

  1. My favorite is the one with the quilts on the clothesline - reminds me of making forts out of blankets on our clothesline when I was a girl. :) Such fun!

  2. I love the block with the red wagon and flowers! The whole quilt is just so adorable!! I used to have an antique red wagon planted with flowers until we downsized last year to an apartment. I gave it away to a dear friend, so it still lives on! Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. This is sooo pretty! If I had my own house to decorate, it would be all shabby chic. And this would be perfect in it!

I love the 3-D pinwheel block. Reminds me of many summer days spent running around the neighborhood with a dime store pinwheel, making it spin as fast as we could. Sometimes we even got the ones with candy in the stems. Bonus! LOL

    Thanks for the memories!

  32. At first, I was sure my favorite was the strawberries and ice cream cone block, because it was so darn cute. Then I saw the the farmhouse with the quilts on the clothesline, and I had to change my mind. When I was a little girl, we used to travel to rural Kansas from surburban Detroit to visit relatives. Seeing the blocks in your quilt, particularly the clothesline one, brings back memories of crispy hot summers, big old farmhouses (at least they seemed big to me at the time), barn cats we loved to play with, riding in the bed of pick-up trucks along dusty country roads, visiting relatives who had quilt frames set up in their living rooms and the clotheslines. What a WONDERFUL memory!

  78. My favorite block hands down is the Little Red Wagon. My twin brother and sister recieved one for their fifth birthday. OMG this wagon was Huge,Red,and with wooden sides that came off just like dad's Farm Truck! They filled it with dolls, blankets, wood, water, sand and even had a gas fire in it once, but mom never knew about that one!
As it got older and outgrown by the twins,it recieved new tires and a few wields and ended up at the Ranch.
Then the grandchildren came along, by this time the wooden sides were gone but it still carried a load. The stories it could tell!
Now it is waiting for the third generation of children, but I fear it will be it's last. It is old and wobblie and doesn't go very fast!

  80. Oh my gosh! I love every block in this beautiful quilt. BUT...it's no contest, the 'Red Wagon' block is my favorite. I pulled my baby dolls around in my little red wagon, I also pulled my pets around in it. I didn't have a carriage for my dolls, so the red wagon was perfect for the job. One other thing of course, was my brother, who was four years older than me, giving me rides in his wagon which was bigger than mine...big enough in fact for me AND my dolls. I must say though that his favorite thing was to push me in the wagon rather than pull me, leading to lots of skinned knees and elbows for me because it tipped over when he went to fast, LOL. Oh my...so many fun memories! Thanks for stirring them up, and for a great giveaway. Hugs and Blessings...

  121. The wagon block is my favorite. It reminds of playing with the other kids on my block when we were little. We'd drag each around all the time in a wagon just like that.

  124. I love the little cottage block. Growing up we lived in an old, small 2 story house. The yards were tiny in the area, and we were separated from our neighbor with a white picket fence. They had a big black dog named Eeyore that I adored!

  125. I can't really pick a favorite - they are all delightful!
I do LOVE the use of the striped fabric in the Pinwheels and Sailboat blocks- it gives the designs such movement! I will be filing that idea away for future quilts!
Thank you for the chance at your drawing!

  126. Wow - they really are all just too adorable! My first favorite was the red wagon with the flowers - then I saw these close up pics on the blog and the house with the quilts and tiny clothespins has to be my favorite! Such attention to detail! Love it! In fact, I love it so much that I'm going right now to sign up for the BOM. Two of my BOM's from you just ended - thought I would work on finishing (beginning in one case) those quilts - but now I've got to add this one! It will be a stunner!

My favourite is the little cottage block which features a white picket fence, gingerbread trim, a kite in the sky, and two miniature quilts hanging on the line. 132. Love the quilt...it is so fun! My favorite would have to be the strawberries and ice cream. The strawberries remind me of the start of summer and we would go and pick them and make jam and ear bowls of them. As a special family treat we would take a ride and get ice cream on a hot summer day! To be a child againwhen life so so carefree.....

  133. The blocks and the quilt is so enjoyable to look at. Each block tells a story and I certainly have a memory for each block. But my favorite is the little red wagon block. It reminds me of all of the many, many times I pulled my grandchildren in their little red wagon when they come to visit. Sometimes they sit in it, but sometimes we just pull it in case we find something or they poop out!

The block with the ice cream cones, however, is a close runner-up. Because nothing says summer like a frost treat!

Honestly, though, the whole quilt looks amazing. Such a lovely design! I love how charming all your products are. Keep up the good work! :)

  152. I think they are all really cute. My favorite one is the pin wheels. Reminds me of traveling back to my grandparent's home in Pennsylvania. We traveled for three days to get there. One year I had a pin wheel. It whirled and whirled it's way from California to Pennsylvania and back. It was so neat to watch it whirl. Kept me entertained for days. Great memories of summers at Grandmas.

  153. Strawberries & Cream are my favourite as they remind me of summers and 4th July parades in the village we lived in New Hampshire for six years. But there are memories in the whole quilt of happy days spent in America. It is a lovely happy quilt. Now back in Australia July is winter time (although winter time here in Queensland is warm and sunny) and strawberry season is not far away.

So of course I had to have one when I started gardening. Found one on a curb - it didn't have wheels! so my husband made wooden ones & now I use it every day!

  165. My favorite is the little cottage quilt. It reminds me of a summer I spent near Cape Cod. There were so many absolutely beautiful cottages that seemed to tell a story of the people that lived there and the time it has seen.

Thank you for this giveaway! It really is a gorgeous quilt.

  166. Since I am being forced to pick just one (not fair you know) and they are all spectacular, I have to pick the cottage with the quilts hanging on the clothesline. I love it when spring and summer come and I can put my quilts on the line outside to get that sunshine smell in them. There is only one thing that smells better then a sunshine quilt and that is the smell of a baby. All that sweetness can't stay contained within. I could smell babies and quilts all day long. Can one buy the pattern for this? I love it and must have it. Thank you for a chance to win your fabulous giveaway.
