Fabric Focus | Nantucket and Subtle Skies

When choosing a collection to focus on today, I kept coming back to Nantucket and Subtle Skies. The collections have their similarities and differences, but both evoke images of a seaside cottage for me. Can you see it too?

Nantucket by Bethany Berndt Shackelford for Quilting Treasures

Nantucket is a collection by Bethany Berndt Shackelford for Quilting Treasures. The red, blue and cream tones are sophisticated and classic, yet modern and fresh at the same time. Nantucket is where you find pristine lounge chairs lined up and ready for duty along the back porch. A cool glass of iced tea awaits you next to your favorite novel.

Subtle Skies by Faye Burgos for Marcus Brothers Fabrics

Subtle Skies by Faye Burgos for Marcus Brothers Fabrics has similar blue and cream tones but adds green and yellow to the relaxing color palette. Subtle Skies is the seaside retreat where you find sand happily tracked into the house and beach towels ready at a moment's notice on the back of a kitchen chair.

Both collections contain bold florals and timeless stripes.

However, the blender fabrics in each have qualities unique to their own collection. Nantucket offers a more formal presentation with the appearance of stripes in the geometric designs and small flowers. Subtle Skies is relaxed with petite florals scattered across the soothing background. A woven appearance adds texture to the basic green, blue and cream fabrics.

Whether your quiet retreat is on the seashore or just in the comfort of your own home, Nantucket and Subtle Skies will calm and soothe. Gazing upon these fabrics is like putting a conch shell to your ear and being transported to the tranquility of the shore!
