Downton Abbey

The story begins in the year 1912 with the sinking of the Titanic. Over the next several years, the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants experience joys and heartaches as captured in four seasons of the hit British drama, Downton Abbey. Season 4 will be premiering in the United States on January 5, 2014.

We are pleased to be offering Downton Abbey by Kathy Hall for Andover Fabrics at Shabby Fabrics! Inspired by the ladies you have come to love, Downton Abbey features colors and prints representative of the period.

I love how versatile this collection is! Just as each character in the show has their own personality, each portion of the collection has unique characteristics. This is seen in the way that one quilt pattern, Sisters, can create multiple effects by using different fabrics from Downton Abbey.

Sisters - Edith
Sisters - Mary
Sisters - Sybil

Patterns for all three colorways are available as FREE downloads from Andover Fabrics--just click on the name beneath the picture. Below are three more free quilt patterns from Andover Fabrics that again show the wide range of possibilities with the Downton Abbey fabrics.

Blossoms

Blossoms would make a great quilt for a young girl who loves soft colors and flowers. The twelve blocks featuring three flowers each will be good practice for your English paper piecing skills.

Simply Sybil

Simply Sybil is a gorgeous all-pieced quilt featuring a variety of colors. This quilt will fit nearly any Downton Abbey enthusiast's decor!

Violet's Quilt

Violet's Quilt presents an elegant and sophisticated appearance just like the Dowager Countess herself. Yet the actual construction of the quilt is based around just two blocks and appliqued flowers.

More than just for quilts, Downton Abbey will make stylish purses, apparel and decor. The Delaney Bag's size and style is the perfect place to showcase the detailed patterns in the collection.

The Delaney Bag

Easy enough to complete over the weekend, The Delaney Bag will be the envy of all your friends. With Christmas right around the corner, this would also be a great gift idea for your Downton-loving friends!

If you've never watched Downton Abbey, you still have time to get caught up before season 4 starts in January. Order some fabrics, choose your favorite pattern and settle in for a trip to yesteryear with the fabric and characters of Downton Abbey!

Who is your favorite character on Downton Abbey? Which version of the Sisters quilt is your favorite?

Until next time,
Jessie

  6. I am a HUGE Downton Abbey Fan and can't wait for the next season in January! How exciting that there is now DA fabrics. I love the Mary Quilt. Her colors are brighter than the others and I love the maroons and others that go so well together. Sybil was my favorite sister but I find them all so interesting, even the Dowager Mother.

  8. Mary's quilt and character are my favorites. Matthew should have a quilt named after him also. These fabric colors are perfect to represent Downton Abby. Now I'm anxious to try these fabrics and patterns!
