NEW Block of the Month - Christmas Keepsakes

With only 80 days until Christmas, we are so excited to show you our newest Block of the Month quilt, Christmas Keepsakes! This adorable 36" x 36" quilt has nine appliqued blocks that feature Jennifer's favorite Christmas motifs.

We are offering the choice of laser-cut or traditional applique for this 10-month program. You probably know by now that we love appliqued quilts here at Shabby Fabrics. Being able to take pieces of fabric and turn them into a scene that comes to life is so rewarding! In this era of immediate gratification, we enjoy taking a moment to slow down and create a family heirloom. However, we also understand that with busy schedules, cutting out applique pieces and turning all the edges under can be a daunting task.

That's why we're pleased to have the ability to offer pre-fused and laser-cut kits! For the mother of young children who is sewing during nap time or the grandmother whose arthritis won't allow her to hand-cut applique shapes, let us take care of the tedious cutting and fusing for you!

We've asked seven of our favorite bloggers to try our laser-cut applique. Join us this week as they show their blocks and share their thoughts on the process with you!

As much as we love the ease of laser-cut applique, we also know that there is something very gratifying about traditional applique. If you have the time and ability, we think you'll find it to be a rewarding task. Jennifer loves being able to take a hand-sewing project on road trips or to simply sit in front of the fireplace and quietly stitch. Watch her 8-part video tutorial if you want to learn her freezer-paper method of applique!

Whether you choose laser-cut or traditional applique, we hope you'll join us this week as these talented ladies give you a close-up look at each block of the quilt.

    1. Hi Margaret! We're so glad to hear that you like the quilt, and we think you'll find that it's not as difficult as you might think. If you choose the pre-fused and laser-cut option, all you have to do is peel off the paper backing. press in place and stitch around the edges!

  7. Hope this does not get on here twice. Seems to have lost my comment but I loves me a pretty wreath any time of the year. I have never tried the laser cut applique yet so maybe this is a good time to squeeze in another BOM. Thank you! Chris beresford

  13. This quilt epitomizes what we all associate with Christmas, done in a soft, old fashioned style, and I love it. It reminds me of my childhood, when my parents strung candy canes, put real silver tinsel on the tree branches that shimmered and sparkled and lined every branch with cotton strips to simulate snow on the tree. It was so beautiful, just like this quilt. Thank you so much for the giveaway opportunity.
